Sipping on your morning coffee, putting on your business blazer while keeping your pajama pants on, turning on your scheduled zoom video call while looking at two little birds chirping outside your window; sounds appealing doesn’t it? This is what a typical start to a digital nomad’s work day might look like.
You might ask yourself – Who are digital nomads? What do they do? Why do they want to be in Croatia? Digital nomads are people who work remotely from their computers usually in coworking spaces, coffee-shops, public libraries, and so on. Digital nomads often travel around the world, working remotely from destinations of their own choice.
The recent pandemic is one of the factors that increased the amount of people who are now able to work remotely, making the term „digital nomads“ more popular than ever before. While visiting a foreign destination, finding a place with wifi can be tough, but finding a place with super fast and reliable internet may be even tougher. Because of the fact that digital nomads aren’t obligated to be stuck in an office all day, they typically search for destinations they will enjoy making Croatia a more popular destination amongst them. Croatia has numerous amounts of benefits for digital nomads, such as idyllic heaven on the Adriatic Coast, exceptionally great food and amazing wine, and historically rich cities such as our own, Šibenik. Starting each morning in Trokut, where digital nomads have access to their own desk and chair, a choice of three kitchens to use, showers and bathrooms, a basketball court, free parking for bikes and cars, technical support, fair use printers/scanners, and much more and ending their day by the beach which is located 5 minutes from us truly makes Trokut a very attractive place for digital nomads. It’s a perfect combination of working while traveling, checking off your responsibilities while using your free time to the max, getting your meetings done while soaking up some sun by the beach, and taking care of your paperwork while enjoying some local homemade pastries and cheese.
As of January 1st, 2021, Croatia started officially offering temporary residence to digital nomads. The visa grants temporary stay in Croatia for up to one year. A digital nomad may apply for another digital nomad visa, but only 6 months after the first visa expires. All applications may be done online or in person. Along with an application, applicants will need proof of a valid travel document, proof of health insurance that covers Croatia, proof of purpose which can include either a contract of an employer or a copy of your company registration, proof of regular income which can be a bank statement, proof of no convicted criminal offences from a person’s home country, and an address in the Republic of Croatia where the applicant is planning on staying.
